KING TOWNSHIP, ONTARIO — York Regional Police (YRP) have launched an investigation after a residence in King Township was struck by gunfire during the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Officers were called to the area of King Road and Keele Street at approximately 2:15 a.m. following reports of shots fired. After arriving at the scene, investigators focused their attention on a home located on McClure Drive, where evidence indicated that the property had been deliberately targeted.
According to police, multiple rounds were fired at the residence, causing significant damage to the exterior of the home. Preliminary findings revealed that the garage door and front-facing windows were hit by gunfire. Early images from the scene showed numerous bullet holes, with investigators estimating that around eight rounds struck the garage and several more penetrated the front windows.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Authorities confirmed that occupants were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, but no one was harmed during the incident.
York Regional Police have not yet released descriptions of any suspects, and investigators continue to work to determine who was responsible and what may have motivated the attack. Detectives are examining physical evidence from the scene and reviewing any available surveillance footage that could assist in identifying those involved.
Despite the alarming nature of the incident, police have stated that there is no immediate threat to public safety. However, residents in the area can expect an increased police presence as officers continue canvassing the neighborhood and collecting evidence.
